Lucknow: Samajwadi Party, which has created new records in Lok Sabha elections, has achieved a unique feat. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav will be the first husband-wife duo to reach Parliament together. Akhilesh Yadav has won from Kannauj and Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri in the Lok Sabha elections. After Akhilesh Yadav’s resignation from the assembly, a new history has been created in the parliamentary politics of the country. Dimple and Akhilesh will be seen in Parliament as the only husband-wife pair. However, a husband-wife pair has reached the Parliament before this as well.
This time the Saifai family has done this feat in the Lok Sabha elections. With the oath of MPs in the upcoming session of the Lok Sabha, this record will be registered in the name of Akhilesh and Dimple. Three other members of the family of the couple who reached the Lok Sabha together from UP have also been elected MPs.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav won the election from Azamgarh, but Dimple Yadav lost the election from Kannauj. This time, the pair of Dimple Yadav and Akhilesh, who reached Parliament after registering a big win from Mainpuri, will be the center of discussion during the proceedings of the House.
In parliamentary history, husband and wife have been in the House before this too. Bihar MP Pappu Yadav and his wife reached the Lok Sabha by winning together in 2004 and 2014. This time too Pappu Yadav has won the election. His wife is a Rajya Sabha MP of Congress. Film actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini have also been members of different houses in the same term.
